NieR: Automata Square Enix shares a Steam storage workaround

The latest Steam update asks for too much space; disabling DLC lets players download the base game

Square Enix acknowledged an installation problem affecting NieR: Automata on Steam on November 6. Following the latest update, the installation process reports that more storage space is required than expected. The publisher is investigating the cause, working on a solution and has apologised to players for the inconvenience.

For now, the company has provided a temporary way to download the main game. Players should open NieR: Automata’s properties in their Steam library, select the DLC section and uncheck the additional content.

Players encountered a requirement for roughly 366 GB of space after the update, compared with around 50 GB previously. Reports link the inflated requirement to the additional packages, with the size of the main game being counted for each one.

The November 5 Steam update added Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese language support.
