Intel Foundry has made the Intel 14A Process Design Kit 0.9 generally available to customers. The company explained the milestone in a November 2 article. The package supplies models, design rules and supporting materials for electronic design automation tools, with this release backed by validation on real silicon.
Customers can use it to develop designs that enter the fab around the time the process is certified. Intel expects its next major release, PDK 1.0, in the first quarter of 2027. Work toward volume manufacturing readiness continues on performance, yield, variability and production cycle time.
The 14A process combines RibbonFET 2 transistors, PowerDirect backside power delivery and Turbo Cells that let designers balance performance and efficiency. Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens and Keysight are involved in enabling the design tools customers use for the process.
