Anthropic has added a new instruction to Claude Code’s prompt for Opus 5.5 intended to steer the tool away from recreating someone else’s specific game. Addy Osmani, a member of the company’s technical staff, confirmed the change.
Osmani said the update consists of two sentences. He attributed it to Anthropic’s existing usage policy against using Claude to infringe intellectual property rights.
Original games, games within a genre, and projects built from a user’s own designs and assets are intended to keep working. The instruction wording shared by user chasm also covers recreations that are renamed or described as original.
Anthropic will continue refining the tool’s behavior, Osmani said. He asked users to send him cases where Claude refuses to work on a project that belongs to them.
