Tesla plans to wind down Cybertruck production in Texas around mid-2027

Elon Musk says the Texas factory will free up space for increased Cybercab output.

Tesla plans to wind down Cybertruck production at Gigafactory Texas around the middle of 2027. Elon Musk announced the plan on November 6, saying the factory space would be used to increase Cybercab production. The two-seat vehicle is central to Tesla’s robotaxi plans.

Cybertruck lead engineer Wes Morrill described the pickup as a technology development platform whose work would live on through Cybercab. He thanked the people who contributed to the project and the community of owners. Responding to one customer, Morrill also said Tesla would maintain spare parts and continue service support. Musk said the existing Cybertruck fleet would be around for a long time.

Customer deliveries of the Cybertruck began in 2023. Cybercab entered production in 2026.
