Gearbox has announced that the Borderlands franchise has passed 100 million copies sold. In a message to the community, the studio thanked players who have joined the series since the original game's release in 2009.
The team has completed Borderlands 4's Year 1 roadmap and is working on more content for 2027. The first year brought two Story Packs, five Bounty Packs and two new playable characters. Weekly Activity refreshes and Community Challenges will continue.
Gearbox is also gathering feedback on the future of the wider franchise. It asked which characters players want to spend more time with and which stories deserve a payoff. Fans were invited to share their thoughts on social media and through the Gearbox Devcast.
