Schell Games has announced that it is laying off a significant number of employees. The VR studio published its statement on October 30, saying the cuts were necessary to secure a sustainable future for the business.
The company attributed the decision to difficult conditions in the games industry.
Its announcement also asks prospective employers to consider the affected staff. The appeal lists Unity and Unreal engineers, game artists, game designers, sound designers, producers and marketing specialists. Schell Games is also offering to connect employers with IT support specialists, educational game researchers, quality assurance staff and product managers seeking new roles.
The studio confirmed its previous layoffs in August. Those cuts affected several departments, including marketing, art, design and visual effects, and were the first in the company’s history of more than twenty years.
